Day TWO!

I have been a runner for awhile and I have recently added body sculpting and I loved it! I am going to use this blog as my reflection on my journey for not only a life style change but the begining to being able to fully experience everything in life to the fullest. The more fit the more options you have. I am going to set out to train for another half marathon for this spring or summer and hopefully try a new sport this summer! So far I have learned to track what I eat and make no excuse for getting my run into my day. Most poeple in life are not very encouraging of this goal for a variety reasons...mostly because then that puts pressure on them to put down the taco bell and live life the way we were designed. So this is where I will be sharing my struggle and success! DAY TWO...I feel it is gonna rock! Time for work! Peace!

My life has been changed FOREVER! I am apparently not a Apple girl in anyway shape or form. I don't care for the over priced computer that has stuff i will never use...I hate that I have no "right click"...I will NEVER need an iPhone...cool, but not worth the $. Apple is smart, and creative but not practicle in my life...I have virtually deleted them from my life completely. iTunes was the only thing that grabed me. However, Rhapsody has just met all my needs and Apple has nothing to offer me... I have become a member of Rhapsody on the go and OMGosh it is the coolest thing EVER! My music tatse is very broad and with Rhapsody I can listen to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING my heart desires! who needs to "own" a song...I can just listen to a song 15 times get sick of it and move on! Or the rare rap song that i like yet, would never pay a buck to have on my computer is no longer a problem! I can listen to it and move on. It is soooo cool! I have never been so excited about a new toy as an adult.
I think Apple is like a designer shirt...flashy...expensive...high status...dependable...but...not practicle.
When it comes to electronics "designer" means nothing to me.
now if it is a purse...that is a WHOLE ne story!!! lol ;)

On April 24, 2009 I had my first Rose Ball! Every semester Delta Zeta has a dance kinda like prom. But they are never as formal as prom. Well Rose Ball is! we invite all our alumni back to come they reunite with friends and we have an excuse to get a better venue and dress up more! It was such a blast! We also vote on awards in the chapter before the dance. well i was not in chapter but i was told i was nominated for an award and I WON!!!! MOST INSPARATIONAL SISTER! It was awesome and so exciting! and such an honor! well here are a few pictures!

Beauty Bowl

Every Spring Kappa Sigma Fraternity holds an event call Beauty Bowl. This is a powder puff flag football game. I played last spring and I decided to come back and play this year. We were a complete joke last year and we wanted to change that this year. We practiced 7-10 times before the big day. The way it works is each sorority that wants to play pays and then fraternities that want to coach pay and all the proceeds go to the philanthropy of which ever sorority wins. It is a great cause and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we lost however we did suprise the team that was talking a lot of trash. We were the first team they played and we scared them pretty good we held our own and were pretty aggressive. I was proud of our team! It was a lot of fun and I with it was an event held every semester! It is fun to get my aggression out and prove that I am not that girl who doesn't want to get a little tough. I am normally very girlie! I don't handle bugs, dirt, and well you get the point but center/lineman I am all down for.

Life Style Change

Well it has only been two weeks in my "life style change" but I feel like it is a "life style change" I am eating 300 times better than before and Physical activity is something I used to make up reasons for why i did not have time. I hated going to the gym therefore, I didn't lol but no more! I hit my breakig point and I am on a role! I run/walk a 3.2 mile laps around my house in between 30 and 40 minutes. I know that may not sound like much but I can feel the improvement each time I run. I am determined to be fit! and Slender! That is the biggest thing in my life right now besides school and Delta Zeta.
Delta Zeta is participating in a philanthropy event in powder puff football. I did it last year and loved it. this year we are not going to be the joke team. We have been practicing very regularly! the game is on the 17 so about two weeks away. I am the Center (which means I hike the ball as well as of course.....BLOCK! hahahaha)

I did well on my first set of midterms and this week comes the next set of them! So I will be studying! wish me luck! Oh and TAP! I could not love something more! I wish I had started when I was younger. I am thinking about taking her class at her personal studio over the summer. We will see!

We have learned several different steps and a few combinations. Right now we are learning traveling times step! My favorites that I have already learned in class a cincinaties (which are a backward step and was a step that I could actually feel the light bulb go on for. The rythum is a huge key and makes it so much fun!)

Becomming a Commuter...lol

Well as of March 1st I will no longer be living at Delta Zeta. This would have been my 4th semester living in and I have debated if living in was still right for me. There are definate perks of living 2 blocks from campus but going back and forth I ultimately realized that I was no longer living there for the reasons I had when I first moved in. Therefore, I decided I would move out and allow another sister to create memories like I have. It is a very good choice that I am confident in now was the correct choice. Therefore, I will be living at home which I think will be nice cuz I do miss spending time with my parents and playing ticket to ride with no end! lol I also think it will help my studies and eating habits! lol so that is the new change with me for march.

This change in moving out is so much bigger than just where i decide to sleep. This is also a push into helping me chnage certain things in my life that are hard to do living in Delta Zeta. Please do not get me wrong, living in was an experience I would not change for the world! I would never get the relationships that I have or even be the person I am today without that choice. However, no longer living in will also give me a the push to turn to different sisters with the new things in my life. I hope it will also help my soical life to be slowly stepping out of the GREEK bubble and keeping up with friends who are not greek which can be very challenging.

I had the chance to spend a lot of time with my Aunt Kathy a few weeks ago and she is truly and insparation to me! I have a goal to going abroad in Spring 2010 and listening to her and her new job for the next few years just pushed me even more to take the steps to making my dream of studying abroad come true. I would love your prayers. I am really trying to get into this blog thing...lol give me a little more time to continue this regularly. lol

Ok so this semester i have been tested a lot...
i have pondered several questions that will sound very broad to everyone but i have been pushed emotionally to every opposite feeling this past semester and i dont want this to seem morbid because although a lot of my experiences were definate struggles they were also benefical in helping me see new things or forcing me to come to terms with things that are hard to accept.
Some questions that I have been thinking about that I still do not have all the answers to...
-What impact do I have on other people?
-How do I want to live me life?
-Who do I want in my life?
-How can I change for the better?
-How can I reach out to people that I am not close to now?
-Why do I have the friends I have?
-Why am I a Delta Zeta?
- How can I be the Delta Zeta my founders would be proud of?
-How do I grow in the "right" direction?
-How can anyone not like COUNTRY MUSIC! lol (i had to put it in there)

I have lost a very close friend and an aquaintence...
I have been rethinking the closest people in my life...
I have been questioning everything I believe and do...
Lastly, I been thinking about where I will end up if I stay how I am and if that is the place I really want to be...

This semester has just definately been God testing me in more ways than I have ever felt. I don't like to dwell on the loss of a friend that could have done so much for so many poeple but was taken away at 21 when he wasn't beng stupid he was just putting others first. However, it is in my heart constantly and I just ask for your prayers.

Highlights of this semester...
*I went to Disneyland *I got a second little sis *I got to branch out and get closer to girls I haven't really been around in my sorority *played tons and tons of country music *turned 20 *got a small job as a personal assitant *spent thanksgiving with my whole family *took a step training class *kept up my TV watching of greys anatomy, greek, private practice, and girlmore girls * I am sure many other things as well...

What I hope to do this winter break
-be very involved with the refugee girls that need some American girlfriends
-go to sixflags magic mountain (might have to be a next semester trip...)
-work a lot
-deep clean my room (it gets less and less crap stuffed in the closet every break from school)
-spend time with my family playing ticket to ride
-exercising (hopefully more step trianing)
-do a better job of keeping up my blog
-and just have a stress free good time!

Well I am here again!
I have to make this quick because I have Chapter (my sorority meeting) in a little bit. Well the count down has come! 9 Days until My Birthday!!! lol
Finally will be caught up with my friends and be a whole 2-0 lol which really means nothing but YAY!!! lol a birthday in its self will be exciting!
I have been soooo busy this semeseter! I am hoping to get a job...hopefully middle of November! lol
My classes are really challenging this semester as well. This is my last semester as Alumni relations for Delta Zeta (they are calendar year long positions) And we will see if the house sees me in another position. I htink it is my duty as a initiate so I will be happy to have one but the extra time if i don't have one will be nice too so we'll see. I will let you know about that also but that won't be until far into November that anything is decided.
I am planning two events this semester! One is Founders' Day which will be celebrating on our Founders' Day October 24th. We were founded in 1902 so it pretty cool. We are havign a dessert night and then I will be planning an event call the Mug exchange where initiates and alumni bring a mug and we play a game and each person will get someone else's mug and then we all go to Christmas in the Park. It is a traditional event that we do every fall. So it should be fun!
I am still very much into country and so i have been listening to a lot of jo dee messina lately. Well I better go! i will write again soon!

Hey!
Life has been soooo crazy lately, I am up for who knows what reason right now!
I will go to bed soon but I thought I should update you guys because I promised sarah I would. I tried to after all the traveling from this summer but it never works. It is just to complicated so i am just going to type my life lol. and feel free to read or skip along.
So we had recruitment for delta zeta and we have 23 amazing new memebers in our house which i am really excited about. I have also been doing really well in school and i have felt like all my hard work this semester is finally paying off!
I am going to a small group bible study with some of the young women at New Life Covenant so that is exaciting and a lot of fun!
My life is so crazy busy and full of studd all the time in a way I am not used to! However it is nice feeling like i have a lot of resposibilities.
As alumni relations for DZ I just put together a bi annual newsletter and sent them all out this week so that is really cool and exciting. We are also having our philanthropy event called turtle bowl this saturday which means that all the money we raise from this goes to the hearing and speech imparied! so it will be a lot of fun ( it is a flag football turnoment)
I also went to a sharks game today. (that is hockey) and we won! it is only a preseason game but it was still a blast!
Well that is all for now I will try to keep you guys up to date. This is a very easy way for me to share with you guys what is going on in my life I just can't handle the pictures.

SUMMER 2008

Hey everybody!
I tried to post when I got back from my final vacation but it was not working so I am going to try and be very picking with pictures because it becomes too much for the site or I just don't understand this completely. lol
I went under the LASER and got my tonsils and adnoids out and took about a month to fully recover. and I thought my taste buds were recovering well but I still don't have a lot of sweet tastes coming back :( Then I took a flight to Washington and I went to ocean shores with my cousins (a family tradition for the girls that I have not gone on for a few years.) then I saw my grandma for two days, went to a mariners game on the 4th of July and they won! (as they always do when i go lol), Next, me and my aunt drove down to oregon and I had a chance to see my brother David and his family! I had a great time and it was the high light of my trip and of my summer for that matter. It is so fun to watch little kids grow up. It was a lot of fun talking to my Dave and Sarah. I felt like a real adult this time...my bother didn't call me ellen once! lol sarah keeps him in check making sure he is nice to me which is nice and i didn't have to scream like i did as a little kids once lol. Well then I went back san jose!
I had missed my bed I was gone for two weeks. I hung out with a lot of my friends that are still around during the summer.
Then I went on my friend Julie's family vacation! We went to Trinity Lake and it was a total balst we were gone for a week! We were on the boat everyday. I love tubing and the first day I had the worst fall of the week! lol they discribed it as a kartwheel with my face! and boy it felt that way but It was a lot of fun. I attempted the wake board but I pulled a muscle or something and was unable to get up but my goal is to build my arms so i can next summer!
Then, hung out some more with sisters, took a temp job where my boss was a complete jerk but not too surprising.
and now I am painting my new room in DZ and moving in on sunday!
I am soooooooo excited for Fall, I am ready for my routine!!! hehehehehe
I will try to update this much more often! I still have a huge love for courty and am buying new music all the time!
btw sarah I have read about half was through the shack and I absolutely LOVE IT so far!

Country Concert!!!

YEP! i went to my third country concert this summer!!! it was only like $40.00 and i saw the Soul 2 Soul II it was awesome! i like Faith Hill but i LOVE Tim McGraw! he played two of my ALL time favorite songs but he didn't have the best song choices i mean of all the songs he has done some of them were ehhh lol bbut the duets were SOOOO CUTE! i dunno if i should be depressed that i don't have the relationship they do or hopefully that it can happen! lol you can tell they can't get enough of eachother and it makes the preformance that much better! lol i went with my friend kaite a few of her high school firends who were super sweet hearts and her sister it was a lot of fun! I was so glad i went! i had a few pictures on my phone cuz ppl said we couldn't cameras and i had never been the the HP Pavillion for a concert so i didn't risk it but you could have a camera oh well lol i have some pics on my phone but they are pretty bad lol but oh well lol here are some internet pictures of tim and faith! some are from the concert except not in the same outfits (the one's they wore were better but whatever lol)
This was from this year but my favorite Duet they did was I need you and she was in a Real RED dress that sparkled! it was amazing this i believe is them singing our love! (Another AWESOEM ONE! )

In case you don't know what they look like lol...both BEAUTIFUL!!!! lol and they are both almost fourty i believe. they have i think 2 or 3 kids and the family travels together, honestly i don't think faith hill would make nearly has much money if they didn't tour together and i assume it is much easier on the family to travel together.

Reality Check

This morning i was told that a childhood friend (4th-8th) was killed in a car crash and if you had told me i would take it as hard as i have i wouldn't have believed you, he was the kid to drive me crazy! His sister was one of my best friends until they stopped coming to my church and idk it was more of a shock when i read the report and it was hard to believe but once it did sink in it really hit me, i felt sick and i wasn't crying for how much i was gonna miss him because honestly i haven't seen him for a few years but i think it got to me because he was a guy that never thought about what could happen, he lived in the moment, and getting in trouble was just what happend a lot and i know many guys just like him and giving him a race car at 19 and expecting him to handle it is not rational and i guess i feel bad that he missing out on life it gave me a reality check to how life can be gone in one second and it caused me to break down and the one guy in my life who i thought would just make this worse and not help me calm down helped me a lot he knew what to say and he knew how to say it i assume he has lost someone in his life but i didn't want to ask i assumed he would share with me if he so choose. Of course i feel horrible for all families involved and my prayers are with all of them. It still seems like a movie it is one of those things you never thtink will happen to you, it just happends to other ppl. But this time it happend to me, it made me think of when my brother almost killed himself driving too fast and nearly killed himself, it reminded me of an exboyfriend of mine who does stupid stuff with speeding, drugs, and just poor choices all the time and made me realize although the boy who died was killed by his own poor judgement there are tons of ppl just like him who do the same thing and don't loose control or if they do, they don't die and it made me realize that life can be all in chance and it also i think made me cry not really knowing his faith, he always seemed to think church was a joke but all i can hope is he is with the Lord. I needed to write this just to keep my mind set straight, and i was told giving it time and it will get better and i am doing ok and just giving it time.

ok so i have told you about the job i got with jumpbunch that has fitness games that goes to various preschools well the three classes i help out with on monday mornings are awesome kids and there is one girl who OMGosh she looks exactly like me when i was a little kid like she stuttards like NO OTHER! and she has the same color hair i did, the same bangs with shoulder lengthish hair that kinda curls at the end and she talks all the time and she is the cutest thing ever and i swear i wishi i could take a picture cuz she looks absurdly like my picture when i was a kid! and it is hard to not stare sometimes cuz it is so crazy lol and she is super willing to try all the games which makes my job a lot easier well i just thought it was a funny thing hehehehe yep i hope every one had a good 4th of july! hehehehehehe and i am putting my 2 weeks in for american eagle on saturday and then on the 30th-5th i am iin washington super excited!!!! but my disneyland trip failed:( mmaybe in the fall for a weekend or over winter break...we'll see...

Jobs!

Well my goal was to get a job this summer and so i applied to a few different places and i got the top three jobs i wanted lol but i let one go and so i now am working at American Eagle! and a chirldren fitness program called jumpbunch primarily for ages 2-5 i am super stoked so that is what i will be up to this summer and i will see if i have to let american eagle go after the summer of if they can just significatly lower my hours. we'll see. wish me luck! my summer will be full of work and fun! hehehehe and vacation my have to wait until winter break or something we'll see. just thouught i would give you an up date on my summer plans.

My DZ Pride!

well life is getting super crazy! life is taking me on a ride that i just hope i can stay on. I finally feel like my life is what college should be like. I feel like somethings hold me down but overall i feel like i am just like everyone else and it feels sooo good! DZ has changed my life! i couldn't express how much DZ means to me with words. I just feel like the girls i have bonded with are true they really like me. The girls that i have hungout with that i would never know if i hadn't made the step to look into a sorority! i only wish more girls who felt like i did would be willing to look past what some may say about sororities! i recently did an informative speech on Delta Zeta just explaining what we are about and to educate ppl about why sooo many ppl on our college campus wear the Greek letters with pride, yell chants, and are pumped for Greek events! My teacher was shocked at how much he learned ppl all seemed really into it and interested in what i had to say and i am gonna do my last speech which is persuasive on why a sorority is a positive experience. and i can't wait! I have so much pride for something that i never wanted to be a part of and i almost backed out near the final days where i had to change classes to be in DZ cuz of our weekly chapter was conflicting with a night class and classes hadn't started so it wasn't a big deal but i was like oh i can just wait until next semester but thanks to my dad who said "Ash you sound really excited why would you wait just go for it! it is like something you really want, you should try it." and so i did and now i can't think of how dark this semester would be without DZ! I am social and the social aspect of DZ is so nice to have i went to DZ did homework and had a blast with the girls today and it made my day brighten up! i mean there are negitives and stress involved when you deal with a bunch of girls but it is well worth the experiences i get to have! i only wish i had done it sooner! lol None of my suite mates other than the one that joined with me understand what it is or why we love it. they don't want to know and that is fine but it feels nice when ppl see my Greek letters and smile at me cuz they are Greek and we are in the same family! i dunno it just pumps me up to have so much. some question me and try to put it down but i stick up for DZ just like i would for my family! Don't judge something until you've tried it! and i hope to have a daughter who can feel the same way!

hey hey hey well i am on spring break and it is nice but i miss my friends!!! they all went home...but it is ok cuz i got closer with the ones that live here or i got to hangout more with old friends from high school which wa snice also! i had too much homework and it kinda sucks but it is ok ummmm april is jam packed with stuff so i am gonna be running all over the place but i thought i'd check in a little bit. well yep and over spring break my biggest discovery was SUPER TACO!!!! awesome place to eat! the best tacos EVER!!!!! and with some la vics orange sauce it is awesome!!! and this i also discovered which is like the the best cereal ever!!! and i can't believe i just fond it now! and it is pretty healthy too! and the best part is it is only $1.50 per box! now that is the college DREAM! well here it is! i recomend it!

I mean they give us all the stuff for the weekly meetings and all the rules and we had dinner will all the sisters as well as did some ice breaker games and it was really fun! we went over the top secret stuff lol that i cannot share...sorry...lol and we got are plege shirts that we all wore today and the shirts are really cute they are long sleeve and in pink on the front it says delta zeta pink spring 2007 and the back says think pink...think delta zeta! it is soooo cute! and we took our house pictures and just some fun pictures by a professional and it was awesome! and all week we have a thing going on! i don't think i could've made a better decision i just wish i hadn't lost a semester but i am definately glad i went this time and not waiting until next fall cuz i am having a BLAST!!!! well here is a picture of my shirt from the front.

Well i am joining a serority...or at least trying to! i am super stoked! I have gotten an awesome vibe the whole time and it is super exciting i get along well with them and they are so nice and you know what they aren't all skinny blondes like i dunno they are normal...i mean a few of those girls that you picture there but most are totally down to earth and it was exciting to feel like i just might have a better college life then i thought. It has been harder then i thought it would to get involved and have core friends and so the serority life seemed like a good thing for me and hopefully next year if all goes well i will be able to live there! hehehhee well i went to two events and They gave me a bid!!! and so that means they like me. and that they want me to rush! and so they gave me a shirt that is for our softball game against the ferternaties that raises money for our charity that helps the hearing impared which is AWESOME! and i even got a key to the house! how sweet is that??? lol well yeah i can't upload pictures from texas yet so i thought i'd keep you updated on college! I have had issues with my roommates and most of them don't lke the serority thing for one reason or another and have been hadnling the fact that i am pumped about it very immaturly and i think there is more behind it then just the fact that i want to be in a serority. I mean i dunno what the problem is but i am not gonna let it get to me i have made so many knew friends and i am soo excited my roommate Alyssa is also trying to get a Bid from the serority that i did and i bet she will cuz she is adorable and sooo nice and likeable! but i just loved it! lol well yeah my parents seemed like the idea wasn't the best at first but they turst me and my judgment about it. As well as i could tell that they realized how much this meant to me. because honestly since roxana is in Texas...and for soem reason i don't talk to high school firends regularly anymore it has been hard to find the good in college but a serority and this serority seems like a perfect answer and i am soooo excited for the things to come! heheheheehe and to make firends that i will have forever!!! i believe it will be worth EVERY penny! hehehehe well here is a picture of the bid! hehehehehehe

Well today i started my first day of the new semester today! hehehehe but i only had one class and it was math and she just gave us our green sheets tlaked for a bit and let us go it was pretty sweet and some of my favorite people that were in my math class last year so it was like i duno it felt like high school cuz when i walked in people were like HEY ASHLEY COME OVER HERE! and it felt sooo good i mean honestly i miss high school there are pros and cons for each part of life but i was good at EVERYTING in high school and i just liked the familiar faces witht he kind faces and words!!! hehehehehehe so it was a good day....my dorm...not so nice...but hopefully that gets better! welli will post pictures from winter break in Texas wheni get them on my computer! lol
